In 1 Samuel chapter 11, we find Israel surrounded by enemies on all sides and facing a powerful, evil Ammonite king. While it may seem like a bleak scene, the Bible tells us that we too are in the midst of a constant holy war, surrounded by a sinful world that is in opposition to the Kingdom of God. Scripture tells us that we need to be quick to obey and trust God and slow to give in to the world?s temptations. Let?s listen as Liam teaches us these truths, using Saul and the Israelites as examples?

Your Monday work day, Wednesday night softball game and Friday dinner date all have something in common?they all take place within the authority structure of God?s Kingdom. Whether it?s a Sunday morning worship service or a weekday afternoon gym session, every aspect of our lives is subject to God?s law. As we listen in to Liam?s teaching today, we?ll find ourselves reminded that the Kingdom of God is bigger than Israel and God himself is a better King than any man could ever be?

Every day we wake up, get dressed and go about our daily routines. And just as we get comfortable with a life of going through the motions, God often interrupts an ordinary day to work in a miraculous way! This week on No Falling Word, we?ll look at the story of an ordinary day that starts with an odd occurrence and ends with the ordination of a king. We?ll see that when God anoints Saul as king, there is no pomp and circumstance. In fact, the new ruler over Israel is called to Biblical servant hood, not to celebrity status. Now, let?s join Liam as we open to 1 Samuel chapter 9 and learn why God?s people must be concerned with being faithful ? and not necessarily with being fashionable?

The term ?peer pressure? is often associated with the social life of teenagers. But in 1 Samuel chapter 8, we learn that entire nations can be influenced by a desire to be like those around them. Today, we?ll find out how Israel responds to this geo-political peer pressure and how that response impacts their covenant with God.

What do eye color, height and skin tone have in common? They?re all hereditary characteristics that are passed down through generations. While certain physical aspects of a person?s appearance are genetic transfers, the grace of God and the spiritual state of the individual are not. Today we?ll find Israel facing an uncertain future and struggling, once again, to trust God. The scene may be new, but the crisis is an old one?

You may not work in the construction industry, but if you?re a Christian, you?re called to partake in a demolition project that has spanned the history of human existence. Believers must be in the business of tearing down idols ? and that includes anything that presents itself as a rival to God. We so badly want control over our own lives, but as we listen to Liam today, he?ll remind us why total desperation is sometimes the very best place to be?

Fruits and vegetables go in and out of season and clothing and accessories go in and out of style. But did you know that the Word of God also has an ?in season?? And in 1 Samuel chapter 7, the Israelites prepare for the fulfillment of God?s Word after 20 years of waiting!
